Minister of Culture inaugurates Qatari cultural days in Luxembourg

HE Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Minister of culture, arts and heritage inaugurated Qatari cultural days in Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in « place d’armes » the largest square in the city. The event was attended by HE  Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and HE Mrs. Maggy Nagel, Minister of Culture, HE Mrs. Lydie Polfer, Mayor of Luxembourg City and HE Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al-Thani, Qatar's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg  in addition to a number of Arab and foreign ambassadors and a huge crowd of audience who were keen to attend the opening ceremony.

 In his speech during the celebration HE Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari extended his thanks to the Prime Minister of Luxembourg for allocating « place d’armes » the largest square in the city to organize the Qatari- Luxembourgish cultural days. He praised the development of relations between the two countries in all fields, especially in the cultural field. His Excellency noted that the State of Qatar has strengthened its relations with a number of countries in all kind of fields, those countries were keen to discover the Qatari culture. Therefore, Qatar organized last year the Qatari-British cultural week and also a cultural week in Japan. He stressed that there were successful events and had an impact and reflection the overall relations.

 His Excellency stressed that mutual knowledge between cultures generate common understanding that will create sound relations between the population for relations of mutual interests, reinforced by the concepts of tolerance and mutual respect and stability. "In addition of the events organized between the two countries, we also aim to define cultural institutions and provides continuing cooperation and exchange of experiences and visits among those involved in those institutions."

 He thanked HE the Prime Minister of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg’s Minister of culture for their keen to attend this week, he also welcomed   Arab officials and friends from Luxembourg for their participation and support to this cultural week. During the opening ceremony a global view has been presented on the economic, political and social development of the State of Qatar along with an overview of the cultural components through live performances of traditional crafts and fine art galleries include a number of paintings that reflect the development of the country and the most important publications of books as well as many folkloric presentations. The opening ceremony attracted a large public from the State of Qatar in addition to Arab and foreign communities, especially since the show featured a set of pavilions exposing the art and culture of the State of Qatar.

 Among these pavilions was the pavilion of fine art, henna and coffee in addition to fashion with traditional ornaments and a pavilion for calligraphy. Dr Hamad Abdel Aziz Al Kuwari, Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage has also opened last Saturday Qatari cultural days in Belgium. These events are gaining importance as they are held in the capital of the European Union, which attracts the attention of different European cultural, political and economic circles.
