Qatar-Belgium Relations


Diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and Belgium were established in the 1970’s. Since 2004, bilateral relations witnessed a noticeable development and cooperation in different aspects of development and cooperation. Bilateral economic ties were enhanced in 2007; a contract regarding supplying the Kingdom of Belgium with the Qatari liquefied natural was signed in March 2007.

  • Visit of HE the President of the Government of Flanders to the State of Qatar in 2012.

  • Visit of HE Minister of Foreign affairs to Belgium in 2013.
  • Visit of HE Minister of economy & external trade of the Government of Wallonia to the State of Qatar in 2014.
  • Visit of HE Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs to Belgium in 2014.
  • Visit of HE Minister of Culture, Arts & Heritage to Belgium in 2014.
  • Visit of HH Princess Astrid, with an economic delegation, to the State of Qatar in March 2015.
  • Visit of HE Minister of Foreign Affairs to Belgium in 2015.
  • Visit of HE Minister of Economy & Trade to Belgium, with an economic delegation, in May 2016.

  • Protocol on Political consultations in 2013.
  • An agreement on avoidance of double taxation.
  • Agreement on mutual encouragement and protection of investments agreement in 2007.
