Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MoI), Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and Qatar Airways has introduced visa-waiver for citizens of 80 countries wishing to visit Qatar, that is in place effective immediately. It will now be much simpler for citizens of those nations, including European Schengen countries, the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa to travel to Qatar - making the number of nationalities eligible to enter without visa the highest in the region.
Citizens of those stated countries that wish to visit Qatar will no longer need to apply or pay for a visa as a multi-entry waiver will be issued free-of-charge at the port of entry, upon presentation of a valid passport with a minimum validity of six months and a confirmed onward or return ticket. Depending on the nationality, the waiver will either be valid for 180 days and allow the visitor to spend a total of 90 days in Qatar, or it will be valid for 30 days and allow the visitor up to 30 days in Qatar, with the possibility of applying for an extension.
The announcement is one to be very proud of, as it ensures Qatar moves one step closer to achieving its 2030 vision. The joint initiative provides an excellent opportunity to stimulate further economic growth and development through easing access to the nation. This will open further doors for Qatar to share its cultural and historic treasures as tourism booms, as well as, attract further commercial investment into the nation in the fields of transport, energy, health, sports and much more.
This momentous development is one of many recently taken to facilitate more efficient access to our country, allowing Qatar to welcome even more visitors, from even more countries across the globe, to experience our first-class hospitality.
