Qatar participates in the meeting of defense ministers' of the countries participating in Operation "Resolute Support"

The State of Qatar participated in the second meeting of defense ministers of the participating countries in Operation Resolute Support in Afghanistan. The meeting was held at the headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in the city of Brussels in Belgium.

H.E the Minister of State for Defense Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Atiyya headed the delegation of the State of Qatar.

The security situations in Afghanistan and possibilities of developing Operation Resolute Support were discussed at the meeting in addition to discussing the contributions of the NATO members and the participating countries to the Afghanistan National Army Trust Fund.

H.E the Minister of State for Defense Affairs, during the meeting, offered support to the mission by providing Qatari Armed Forces strategic military left-capability (C-17 and C130-J30) of the State of Qatar Armed Forces.

The NATO Secretary General Mr. Jens Stoltenberg welcomed the contribution of the State of Qatar and its joining Operation Resolute Support.

NATO has been running the non-Kinetic operation in Afghanistan since 2015 under the target of training, assisting and advising the Afghan military in performing their duties.

H.E the Ambassador of the State of Qatar in the Kingdom of Belgium and Head of Qatar's delegations at the European Union and NATO, Mr. Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi and number of Qatari Armed Forces high-ranking officials attended the conference.
