Establishment of the Qatari-European Friendship Society in the European Parliament

The first meeting of the Qatari-European Friendship Society was held at the European Parliament, chaired by HE Mr. Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of Belgium and Head of the State's Mission to the European Union and Mr. Cristian-Silviu BUŞOI, President of the elected Assembly and member of the European People's Party at the European Parliament.

Mr. BUŞOI delivered a speech at the beginning of the meeting in which he expressed his delight at the formation of this Assembly, which stressed that it will work to strengthen relations between the State of Qatar and the European Parliament in various aspects of economic, political and cultural.

For his part, His Excellency Mr. Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, in his speech, welcomed the deputies who joined the Qatari Friendship Society in the European Parliament, explaining that it will work to develop relations between the State of Qatar and the European Parliament.

His Excellency stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomatic work in general, noting the level of cooperation and the growing development of relations between the State of Qatar and the European Union thanks to the harmony and consensus between the two sides, especially after the signing of the cooperation agreement between the State of Qatar and the European Union in March 2018.

H.E Ambassador touched on the achievements of the State of Qatar over the past years in various fields, whether in the field of natural gas or in the areas of foreign investment and sports movement, in addition to political activity.

At the end of his speech, HE expressed his hope that the Assembly will succeed in developing and strengthening relations between the State of Qatar and the European Union in the common interests, and called for efforts to develop these relations.

The main objective of the Association is to strengthen relations between the European Parliament and the State of Qatar in particular in various fields, to defend mutual interests and to promote bilateral cooperation through the organization of mutual meetings and visits to the Qatari and European sides.

The Assembly includes deputies from the various parties that make up the European Parliament, especially those interested in the role of the State of Qatar and its foreign policy, development and education.
